Take Action! | $25M for Healthy Start Community-Based Doula Programs

HealthConnect One

Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-05) has put forth a request for $25 million in additional funding for the Healthy Start Program, to integrate the Community-Based Doula program across all existing Healthy Start sites! This is an exciting opportunity, and we need you to TAKE ACTION!

Please email your Congressperson NOW and ask them to support Congressman Quigley’s appropriations request for an additional $25 million for Healthy Start. This would increase the Healthy Start budget from $101 million to $126 million, and allow for the hiring of two full-time community-based doulas to each of the approximately 100 Healthy Start sites in 39 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

In addition to the House appropriations request, we have formally asked Senator Durbin and Senator Harkin to include a $10 million increase in the Healthy Start budget for expansion of Healthy Start sites to include the Community-Based Doula program.  So, we need you to email your Senators, and ask them to support this request for a $10 million increase in the Healthy Start budget.

We need to support healthy families.  Contact your Elected Officials NOW and tell them: support additional funding to Healthy Start!

Thank you,
