We need your support to purchase 65 sturdy tablets that will be used by 130 health outreach workers at the Philani Maternal and Child Health Clinic in Cape Town, South Africa.
The tablets will go to outreach “mentor mothers” like Nomfusi Nkubu, who serve as the first point of contact for health issues and health education within their communities. Mentor mothers like Nomfusi are considered quiet heroes for the 60,000 families they care for every year. By supporting them, we can support the health and productivity of an entire generation of young South Africans. Click here to read more about this remarkable woman…
In February 2015, Stanford University and Just Cook for Kids launched a successful video teaching pilot project with the Philani mentor mothers. Twelve mentor mothers began using tablets, loaded with teaching videos that had been created at Stanford according to the objectives of their own highly regarded health promotion curriculum.

No donation is too small to make a difference.
Providing women like Nomfusi with tablets allows them to amplify their messaging, protecting the health of hundreds of children and families every month. We are only starting to measure the positive impact of this invaluable health care force. In the words of Philani’s outreach director, “Sometimes it’s difficult to measure the true impact of the mentor mothers. Because how do you measure the power of giving someone hope?”
At Just Cook for Kids, we strive to support mothers all over the world who are doing the best they can to raise healthy kids, with the resources that are available to them.
We thank you for joining us on this exciting and rewarding journey.
